Look I hate to say this but many Americans haven’t taken a proper economics course inflation has occurred to route countries history guess what we’ve never won the battle against inflation. The only thing that has ever cured inflation in our country is a recession. People need to understand that after every period of inflation we have ever experienced a recession that was the only thing that came afterwards and they went hand in hand. Other countries developed nations have experienced inflation as well guess what came after the period of inflation a recession. Many methods have been employed to try and fight inflation but inevitably you can’t we don’t know what the cure for inflation is we do know some of the causes of inflation for instance too much money in an economy causes inflation We’ve also recently learned that in a global economy supply constraints supply chain breaks can cause inflation. Inflation is just a rapid increase in prices prices increase naturally with rising wages but when they go beyond the pale of what’s expected we give a special name inflation. We typically aim for about 2% a year inflation we’re getting much more than that now. If you really want to fight inflation you have to deal with the calls in most cases inflation was caused by too much money in the economy how do you take money out of the economy you make a persons dollar which they are normally going to spend worth less money. Guess what place and does that on the town it’s a natural cure for too much money being in the account prices rise your moneys worth less eventually it balances out. The problem is right now the reason we are experiencing inflation has nothing to do with too much money in the economy. Yes there are some who will argue during the pandemic we gave out lots of money we did and if you saw too much money in the economy you might reason that that’s the cause of our inflation here is to catch inflation is being experienced not just here but around the globe so you can’t correlate Americans having too much money with all of the inflation it’s being experienced around the world. Not some people may say I don’t care about the rest of the world I only care about here well we live in a global economy so you have to worry about what’s happening over somewhere else. A parts shortage in Taiwan could mean auto factories don’t run in Michigan. In fact I know some people that are laid off right now for two weeks because they can’t get chips micro chips not potato chips. I know people who work at a potato chip factory who are experiencing layoffs and short work week hours because people aren’t buying as much potato chips as they usually do why hours have been cut at other facilities I can’t afford potato chips now plus the price of potatoes has gone up since the price of gas has gone up. It’s a global economy and if you ever have a supply constraint it backs everything up. What happens when you don’t just have one supply constraint but you have multiple supply constraints all around the globe everything gets backed up. Fewer goods are on shelves people raise prices because they can’t sell the normal amount of goods and services they normally would well I need to make what I made last year a minimum if I own a store I have to raise the prices that’s inflation that’s where this cause of inflation came from not too much money being in the economy but supply constraints on a global level. How do you fix supply constraints on a global level guess what you can’t you literally have to wait until all the kinks work out and think about kinks working out on a supply constraint on a global level we’ve never experienced it and we know it takes time. Actually we don’t even know if it takes time we just know it could take time and we expect it will. On the bright side it means goods and services will continually flow and you won’t experience as rough a recession you may even experience a typical recession but it does mean prices will be higher and no matter what type of inflation you experience there’s nothing government can do to fight it there’s nothing government can do to stop it there’s nothing government can do to deal with the recession that occurs afterwards. What a smart government would do is help you hunker down during the inflation what a smart government would do is take care of their other economic problems since they know a recession is coming. If I know I have to go get a flu shot I might as well go get vaccinated for other things stick me in the arm multiple times so I don’t have to keep coming back. Well that’s why the government raising interest rates right now it’s something that should’ve been done 10 years ago but we never did cheap money was too good for us it should’ve never lasted as long those low interest rates now the government is correct in something they should’ve corrected years ago. Yes will say it’s for the recession and to prevent a recession but in all honesty it’s just good economic policy interest rates were too low they had to fix it.
