Martha Rountree co-created “Meet the Press,” along with Lawrence Spivak. A broadcasting pioneer, Rountree served as the broadcast’s first moderator while also producing a program called “Leave It to the Girls.” NBC News launched “Meet the Press” in 1947 and Rountree remained the moderator until 1953.
