For politicians of all colors, it is about having a good life for themselves and not for public whom they are claiming to serve. In order to have a good life for themselves they are serving interest of wealthy and powerful at the expense of poor and middle class. These politicians are rewarded by wealthy and powerful to have a life of wealth and power. The answer is that the politicians are forced to trade places with the people. to achieve this, "We the people" must force politicians to leave on what poor and middle class have to live with by passing amendments so that politicians are paid equal to the earnings equivelent to what is earning of the middle class and poor.
