What high school teacher Lynn Ovaska cherishes most is a box full of letters from students. Reminders of support that touched her so deeply, for the past ten years, she’s made gratitude a cornerstone of her own lessons at New Mexico’s Los Alamos High School. For each holiday season, her students write and deliver heartfelt notes to friends, relatives, and favorite teachers for a chance to reflect in a world full of chaos.

I have saved so many letters from my 3yrs old 4 yrs pre school students .I treasure them. Read often when I think about them..
That’s so thoughtful. Gratitude is a learned skill. Younger people don’t know —-that at all. They have to learn this skill of giving personal …thanks. (I said that this evening in my life. I thanked my only son for helping with groceries.. this weekend.) It was what my older father told him to do, from some estate funds —given to us —when both my parents passed away several years ago. I took care of them then. These last few years, my son runs his own bike kit manufacturing small business here. He still needs a bit of the family funds from a land sale my brother made four years ago from all of us. Everything is so expensive these days just to live. I thanked-him this evening since again. Yikes, after being in the hospital for 4 days recently. So..really gratitude …is key to being patient… when times are rough. (We never know what will happen next.) 💛🌻Thank you.
