A landlord should only have a deadbolt installed. It’s much easier to stand behind someone and watch the code or have someone give you the code than it is to go make a copy of your key! Trust me, I do maintenance for a living. I’ve changed thousands of locks. There’s even locks that you can change the keys without changing the locks.
It takes more effort to go make copies of keys than it does to memorize a code, whether given to you or not! You can just be standing there and happen to see them type in the code.
At least if your lock is keyed then they have to find a way to get your key and go get a copy made.

Obviously the victims as well as the surviving roommates were sleeping. When I was 20 I didn't wake up until noon after a night of partying. I'm no rocket scientist but I speculate a surviving roommate (s) woke up to nobody and probably thought gee this is odd. Looked around and saw someone covered in blood and most likely called 911. I don't get why that is so hard to figure out! The roommates have been ruled out why? Because everyone was asleep when the crime occurred!! Praying for the families and friends that they find this evil indivual or individuals. Somehow I feel it was a guy that either had a crush and was turned down or made to feel stupid and just took out his anger.
Eliminated the two initial interviewed individuals rather quickly… four dead some thought to have fought… screams? Not one ran away? Hard to see this as a one man job. Again they immediately cleared 2 individuals. Now their on a fishing expedition of someone who followed them from a party and what, killed 4 and left 2 witnesses? Why not kill them all? Already killed 4 and odds are at-least one wasn’t involved at all just a victim to wrong place wrong time. This is all weird. Probably I haven’t heard all the reports to why they are cleared if there is something out there share the link. I want to believe this is an outsider also.

This case is probably similar to the one involving the girl who got beaten to death by her "friends" while on her "friend's" birthday vacation in Cabo. Young adults are naive and vulnerable, especially due to the era of social media, where they're able to foster and maintain pseudo "friendships" via bullshit "likes". My heart aches for all of these victims, and I hope that all the perps involved lose their lives in prison.
