There will be no strike. In order for the strike to happen the NLRB mediator would have to release them to strike which will not happen as it would be political suicide for the Biden regime. Train and airline unions cannot strike without this approval because of the Railway Labor Act which also covers airline unions.

Being recently retired from the transportation industry, it might be time to inject some truth into the situation. First, trains carry less than 50% of the traveled miles of freight. Virtually all freight, except for seaports, begin on a truck. If the get on a train, it is at a distribution or consolidation center, where it travels to a rail transfer shipping yard, where a truck carries it to its final destination. Trains are wonderful intermediate shipping systems, but in 99% of freight movement, it is a truck backed up to a dock loading or unloading what you, the average and above average citizen will have access to purchase. Trains are important, especially for ships coming from China with goods made over there. I have Chinese made goods in my home. They would be American made goods, but the American and European companies have Chinese plants that make them so inexpensively, American and European companies can not meet their price point in the retail market.
The Air Traffic Controllers were crucial employees when they decided they did not want to show up for work and effectively quit. Yes there were some disruptions but America got over it and the highly paid and skilled employees found a different career and they and their families went on with their lives.
They need to hold out. One day of being sick? Good luck!

I support the railroads industry and for all my friends who have worked in the industry. I have friends who were layed off and then replaced instead of hiring them back. That's when I became cynical about joining the railroad industry.
These positions are option for driverless train . Easier than cars or trucks.

This is a company that changes the holiday so that they can get four days off with their family. While the workers have to rearrange everything and most likely work the holiday and the weekend. Super greedy at the top why can't a company just go to their employees and give them normal sick days and normal holidays off.
As self employed most of my life, I'll take one of the jobs with a 24% pay increase and killer benefits! Pretty sure I can replace most of these people and I'll take the "workload" they have!
