More than 91 people have died after a cable bridge carrying hundreds collapsed into the Machchu river in the western Indian state of Gujarat, according to state officials.

In memory of the many persons who died or who were otherwise injured when a pedestrian bridge that was suspended over a river in the town of Morbi which is located in the western Indian State of Gujarat collapsed, I hereby humbly suggest that the following actions be taken:
1. The Government of India should declare on Monday November 7, 2022, that the entire month of November 2022 be
regarded by all particularly Indian nationals as a month of “National Mourning” in light of the disaster that took place in
which the bridge over a river in Morbi collapsed and about150 persons died and scores of other people were injured;
2. The Government of India collaborates with the Private Sector in India to jointly establish “The Morbi Bridge Fund” to which
Indian nationals at home and abroad as well as International Agencies could make monetary donations to assist victims
who are living to cover the costs of goods and services which are directly related to the adverse effects due to the
catastrophic accident of the collapse of the pedestrian bridge;
3. The Government of India fully finance the cost that is associated with:
• the burial of each person who died;
• the treatment of living injured persons inclusive of recovery of lost incomes for those who were employed at the time of
the serious accident;
4. that starting from January 1, 2023, there be the commencement of a 9-month long extensively detailed judicial investigation
by a panel of three jurors who are presently serving on and/or retired from the High Court Judges of India into factors that
contributed and led to the bridge collapse;
5. The Government of India secure the services of a highly reputable private company from the United States (US) to construct
a new bridge over the same river at or about the same location but this time making provisions for at least one lane of
motor vehicles heading in diametrically opposite directions across the bridge;
6. that the horizontal base of the bridge must be securely resting on strong vertical pillars of concrete and metallic uprights
that are firmly planted several feet below the ground at the bottom of the river but which emerge out of the river at regular
intervals to fully support the new bridge which is highly similar to the Brooklyn Bridge and/or the Whitestone Bridge;
7. that a Security Station that is ideally equipped with monitors which receive electronic signals 24 hours each day from CCTV
that are appropriately spaced along the entire bridge be built on either side when one is seeking to go on to the bridge where
there is a distinctly white coloured median line that is to assist drivers in their judgments driving along the bridge where
there is a shoulder lane adjacent to either side of the active traffic lane with moving motor vehicles.

Causes of the incident
1. It was a British Era Bridge(above 140 years old)
2. The company who undertook renovation didnt get SAFETY STAR approval.
3. There were 500 people on the bridge More than maximum limit.
4. Plus some were swaying and jumping on the bridge.
Overall: the authority is to be blamed. No safety standards, guidelines. Plus they over sell their tickets.
Indians needed that wash.

On other videos, it shows a man (in white) actually shaking the bridge sideways prior to collapse. Not overloaded that the original design wouldn't compensate with its design tensile strength. Possible factor also is repair/rehab done to this prior to this incident was done through shortcuts and with substandard materials. A no-no esp with a suspension bridge.
Other news outlets said that the renovation work on the bridge was given to a local electrical appliance company and that the young people on the bridge was trying to sway the bridge side to side before it gave way and snapped the cables.

any time I hear of "BRIDGE collapse" – or "train accident" kills 100s – you can get your ass its going to be in India – home of the worst engineering and build standards in the universe.
Appparently this "bridge" was constructed from paper like most buildings in India.

What the hell kind of “bridge” is that? Built 145 years ago out of rope? Their government should’ve built someone more substantial with concrete and steel since 1877. This was avoidable. It’s a bridge from the old Tarzan movies!!! 🤦🏾♂️
