You can’t “stop” the strike because you can’t force people to work. If you overwork already hard workers without adequate compensation for an illness, this will result in angry and fed up people. Especially since we’re still not over this pandemic. What you CAN do is stop prioritizing gay marriage protection over the protection of our railroad workers. You won’t do that.

I work for Union Pacific. They’re making us look ungrateful and selfish when in reality we were ill-informed on full details of the proposed agreement. Granted the sick pay was something that was talked about for years. The main concern was the backlash pf this 3 year agreement that we would only see the consequences for on the next agreement that came. They’re basically robbing us of a choice for the next agreement all while trying to force this one on us.
We voted and rejected, im part of one of the 4 unions that denied the agreement. These raises, these “bonuses” all come over a course of 3 years. What they fail to inform you on is that they now un-cap our insurance payments to allow up to 15% of your check. So you will never see the raise anyway.
This “bonus” comes in $1000 increments, EACH OF WHICH ARE TAXED INDIVIDUALLY.
The backpay- TAXED at its highest percent when were owed that money as we worked through a pandemic that railroads threatened us with termination if we didnt get vaccinated for.
They aren’t telling the public everything. They are making us sound like WE are the ones that will hurt the American people when all we are really hurting is their holiday revenue from goods transportation.
We are the American People. We are trying to stand on belief and fairness, and Congress, just tied our hands behind our backs for the Carriers to drown us.
We tried to fight back. Now we are informed that once this is finalized we can no longer vote on it again or we face termination for not agreeing to its terms. Yet we pay $2000 a year for Union representation that was literally just strong armed and walked over today.
We were never ungrateful for what were given. But we as employees felt there was not enough information given to truly explain the overall agreement that will lock us in for the next 3 years.
The Agreement itself was over 120 pages.
The ballot i received to vote YES or NO on was two pages front and back…nothing more. All highlighting the positives, informing us nothing of the backend that we truly needed to know about.
Without 5 Paid Sick Days – The trains aren’t going anyplace! THAT needs to be the Union workers response – Biden can’t pretend to be the working class President and then throw those same workers under the train. No 5 Sick days = Nothing Moves 💪 > Let Biden and Pelosi stick their legislation up their ass!
