How about Congress forcing the railroad industry to give their workers decent working conditions. They could do that just as easily as they could stop the unions from striking.

Pay is not the issue when you listen to any of the workers. It’s about being on call 7 days a week and not time off for health. It’s ridiculous that the railroad’s can’t come up with a better work schedule.
Give them their paid sick leave! What is this?! Put pressure on the rail industry. Stop hurting workers just bc they want the bare minimum: sick days. I bet all of you at NBC get sick leave. Stop blaming the workers!
After decades of removing infrastructure, moving to Precision Scheduled Railroading, not prioritizing AMTRAK even though required to do so by the Rail Passenger Service Act; Big rail doesn't care. And if you think the talks weren't drawn out into the holiday times… IDK what world you live in. Striking now holds the most power for the workers. Stopping it because you're worried about the economy… If you're that worried take back all the land that was given to the railroads, nationalize rail service and call it an act of stabilizing the economy because rail is too important to be subject to the whims of corporations and capitalism. I hope Congress lets the workers strike.

Let the market set the price. US citizens have the constitutional right to assemble for the purposes of a labor strike. Congress is clearly overstepping their authority.
I don't see what the problem is. Common sense says give them paid sick leave and paid time off. EVERY Employer should have this, no reason for it! These rail companies are just being crooked. There should be a law for these 2, EVERYONE deserves paid time off, whether sick or leave. This isn't Russia, China or North Korea for crying out loud!
