The Ukrainian Choir Bringing New Meaning To A Classic Holiday Song

A classic holiday song, today, the song of survival as Ukraine’s Shchedryk Children Choir performs “Carol Of The Bells” at New York’s Carnegie Hall. The same venue where the Ukrainian song premiered a century ago. The choir’s members reunited this summer after many fled to safer places during the war. Over the last few weeks, they rehearsed in Kyiv, sometimes practicing in a bomb shelter without electricity. Now, the children who’ve been through so much are proving joy and hope can prevail.

  1. And it was very same situation 100 years ago. Koshytsya choir brought Leontovych song version in Carnegie Hall when Ukraine was in the war, proclaiming independency in very last moment before fall and ended with Russian occupation. Leontovych didn’t make to world recognition – was killed by KGB agent, same fate for most of our artists, composers, poets. Then they were enforcing our Ukrainian men under death penalty into their war in Finland that was next. And later they did for Ukraine extermination by artificial hunger – Holodomor, to broke last resistance and resettle our land with Russians from Ural.

  9. God bless them and keep them safe so years from now they can still tell their stories of freedom.

  10. Are these children going back to a war zone? God bless and protect them and their families.

  11. I wonder if anyone has told those kids the war in Ukraine is the West’s Fault due to the US pushing for NATO Expansion on Russia’s border, something the US promised Gorbachev it would not do. Ukraine joining NATO has always been a long-standing Red Line for Russia. Yet the US continually has pushed for that to happen.

“U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s famous “not one inch eastward” assurance about NATO expansion in his meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on February 9, 1990, was part of a cascade of assurances about Soviet security given by Western leaders to Gorbachev and other Soviet officials throughout the process of German unification in 1990 and on into 1991, according to declassified U.S., Soviet, German, British and French documents posted today by the National Security Archive at George Washington University.”

  12. If Christmas is a Christian holiday with pagan roots and Christians are filled with hate and Ukranians are Jewish, then why are Ukranians singing about CHRISTmas?

  13. Beautiful! I pray the Ukrainian people have a peaceful Christmas against the heinous and insidious Russian Regime! There definitely is no place in Heaven for Vladimir Putin! He truly is an EVIL non-human being!
Love to the Ukrainian people and their stealth-ward strength through such a very sorrowful and deleterious time!❤❤❤

  15. Ok, see we keep getting forgetting a part history on purpose, and the remnants of that nasty temporary psychosis the trident represents. So… since Jews were removed by the Ukrainians and the Russians, those guys should tie and keep blowing each other up, we can just celebrate because well nobody wanted the other stuff so….. party hats for losing your homes, your families, your culture and potentially making your land so poisonous that nobody can ever return. To Both sides, thanks for genocide in the past and the present, maybe my relatives will be able to Rest when both sides of the war tie.

  16. 🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥💜💜💜🙏
