Some businesses in New York may be forced to close after a new law from the state would ban the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores. WNBC’s Pei-Sze Cheng reports.

Pet stores in canada stopped selling dogs and cats yrars ago and they are still in business, pets stil lneed food etc….she's just being greedy and contributing from the puppy mills

Yes banning legally selling of puppies is gonna work like marijuana ban that worked so well Everyone stopped buying weed immediately after the ban until it was legalized in NY. Unlike Guns, The cruel industry aka the pet store must be stopped! Oh the horror!

I’m glad they are banning and should all over the country! There are too many backyard breeders benefiting from buying dogs are stores and then dogs end up on streets and shelters when people don’t want them. It’s sad! There needs to be more done. The only concern now is the black market.
The living animal is what is important here – not the pet store.
Dogs and cats = pets. Rabbit = food. They should be at least be able to sell rabbits.

Here in Ontario, Canada, they did this years ago. However, most pet stores still have animals available–they just have them on loan from local shelters instead of buying them from puppy mills and mass breeders.
