The ammount of paid Trols, propagandists and clueless tankies ranting nonsense on every single russian oil cap video tells me the oil cap is working.
These are the same people/bots who said and still say, with a straight face, that sanctions on russia dont work, despite the fact that putin and the kremlin havent stopped begging the west to remove them.
I cannot say that the oil cap is going to be as effective as expected, but i know that anyone saying it wont work as soon as it's implemented, is full of Bs, because they dont know that, theyre just making claims without evidence, and the oil cap already had a huge impact in the oil market. The same as sactions, we will see the effect of the oil cap over time, nobody knows if it'll do the desired effect yet, nobody, specially youtube nobodies (including me) who dont even use their real names while making epic claims of things they cant back up.
Also let me clarify one thing, The countries that implemented the oil cap can remove it whenever they please, Russia has no choice on that matter, Russia's only choice is to sell or not to sell and not selling means both no profit and loss of future profit, but it cant remove the cap, thats the difference between power and lack of power.
Russian officials documents, businessmen, members of the regime and banking system have been reporting about the negative effects sanctions have had on the russian economy both now and in the future, whenever you read "someone" on youtube claiming they dont work, understand these anonymous people are contradicting what really important people in Russia are reporting, who are you going to trust? i rather trust what the russian private economic numbers say about whats going on with the economy, and not youtube trols nor kremlin fabricated numbers, whenever they bother to report numbers instead of censoring them, they dont even report how many russians have died (updates) in the war yet, not even to the families, and they know when a soldeir dies.
Some are claiming that Russia will just sell the fossil fuels to Asia and India and use "supply & demand" as an argument, well, the demand for those fossil fuels is in Europe, and it wont move out of Europe, Europe is getting energy from other countries that supply our demand of energy. So i wonder what these "economist" base their argument on? Who is going to replace all this demand? is Russia just going to create demand out of thin air? The reason why Russia wasnt exporting more energy to China and India pre-war was because there were no demand to begin with. That is supply and demand.
But wait, it gets worse, the current excess of demand from China and India comes from the massive discount Russia is giving them, so Russia has not only lost its biggest customer (Europe's demand) but its also selling at a loss (supply) to countries that can store or resell this energy, but dont really need it. Thats not supply and demand, thats autodestruction and if we were talking about businesses instead of countries, everyone would agree that it is a ridiculous deal, the problem is Russia doesnt have a choice on the matter until the war is over, and even after the war, it will have to make a lot of concession to ukraine and the west, including every foreign business in Russia affected by the war. Or just surive living 1 century behind the rest of the world, north korea style.
Also, the fact that a country can buy energy doesnt mean it must, theres way more important matters in geopolitics than just buying all the energy available, Europe and western nations' bans and caps on Russian energy is living testimony of this fact. Today China and India are buying russian energy, but thats not gonna last forever, and many new unfavourable conditions to russia might apply in the future (geopolitics) if russia wants that demand to stay in place, let alone increasing it to the same level Europe had pre-war. Russia is already selling at a discount, consequence of its own actions by invading Ukraine, experts dont lie, Russia will become China's ill lapdog.
