Why should news outlets be compensated for being on social media and how would that be justified under current law? And let’s be honest, news outlets aren’t the primary content creators attracting people to social media so I don’t understand what leverage they have. I also think a lot of people don’t know or understand that algorithms serve you want you interact with. Are the algorithms alive and evil or are humans just fascinated by chaos and violence?
We are so far behind Europe in this it’s pathetic.

If a platform is considered a publisher then a platform can be sued or/and permanently shut down for violating a law, thus reducing laws to weapons. The law should be a shield for all, not a weapon for a select group! This is sick, what she wants is to destroy the internet so you're reduced to watching CNN or some other government approved voice. The point is obvious. All our laws assume a very different paradigm. If everyone has a printing press and a hyper distribution process, what is slander and what is libel. What are facts to a culture that has decided to pick its own.?
I have a blog post that I grew over a couple of years with seo blogs and it had a patio gardening store. I finally grew steadily to 100 views per day and Google said great, you can now have our ads. But after that, my views did not increase, it's like Google shut off the traffic (views)… so they got ad space but they didn't have to pay me for ads because I didn't have enough traffic. I was still adding seo content and even put a calendar for local garden events across the country. I have never made 1cent but Google got free ads and still does.
