Sheriff Darin Balaam says that actor Jeremy Renner was injured when he attempted to get back into a PistenBully snow removal vehicle after it began rolling away.

I wish the very best for him and his family, but when a 7 ton vehicle decides to move regardless of direction, I get the fetch out of the way. That is not the time to play hero.

"On the listed date and time, we received a report of Mr. Renner having been run over by his snow cat, after towing a stuck family member's vehicle. It took longer than usual to provide medical aid, due to the hazardous road conditions. Upon arrival, medical crews provided aid to Mr. Renner, and he was subsequently transported by life-flight, to a nearby hospital. During interviews with witnesses, we learned that after freeing the stuck vehicle with the cat, Mr. Renner exited the machine, and was talking to a family member. At this point, the snow cat began to roll away and Mr. Renner was badly injured while attempting to climb back into the machine, and get it stopped."
