Interestingly enough these hospitals rather pay Travel Nurses 3-5x a staff nurse rate while they are on strike instead of paying their staff nurses a great wage for the work they do. However, there are not enough new nurses entering the field to keep up with demand. As someone in an accelerated nursing program, we only have 48 students… just a drop in the bucket.
stop voting for politicians that anti union/ anti workers…majority of american workers are underpaid. GOPs are very good in blocking increase pay ,benefits, been against medicare and social security. USA is going down. I will not be surprise to see seniors begging money on the street. This are the frontliners who deserved the utmost respect.. shame on this hospitals and big corporations .
Just glad this didn't effect me like it did these poor victims and nurses.
This is heartbreaking for these nurses having to fight for support, better conditions and pay when they would rather be caring for patients. This reminds me of Red for Ed when as a teacher we had a similar strike and students were missing teachers. Hoping for the best.🙏♥️
I sympathize with them
They should really give the nurses what they need. In fact they should give teachers as well. You work so so hard. You deserve to get paid WELL
Gays, women and poc's. Wow, looks like a fun atmosphere to work in.
White replacement is right in front of you and you can't even see it.
I would love to become a R.N if school was free.
Nurses was sooo nice to my mom when she was fighting cancer they didn’t leave her side at all I stand behind them give the nurses what they deserve
Every worker is this country deserves protection we are the backbone of America
Nurses are definitely underpaid for the work they do. Hospitals are businesses and they worry about profit margins and in turn patient and staff satisfaction suffers.
Administration is extremely greedy. These are people’s lives. As a Pharmacist I feel the same
Are we not going to talk about how they fired a bunch of nurses who would t get the jab?
Poor nurses, bless them because I KNOW how much they are needed, on top of all these issues brought up it’s rarely mention how the -some doctors work the hell out of them and even abuse them through work
This is why I won't even use my free healthcare to go see your doctor anymore! Dr. Mark Morrissey Valley Family Medicine st. Margaret's UPMC Natrona Heights burtner Road Pennsylvania kicked me to the curb at the height of covid and I didn't even think they were allowed to do that during covid patients out and I've been there my whole life he acted like bipolar came on all the sudden and 46 it doesn't! So I could care less if they ever feel another f**** emergency room again with nurses or whatever I hope Healthcare just goes down in a f**** ball of flames like it should have done a long time ago because we're not getting real Healthcare we're getting what they want to give us and how they want to treat us and it's very crappy treatment especially when another doctor stands there and tells you don't quit taking Abilify cold turkey but I'm not going to prescribe it to you! F it! And there are doctors who fill it's worth it to make way more money off of you turning you into a junkie than they are treating you for True pain! Hence all the pain clinics and now that we have in place but that motherfuker made billions off of us just to do four years in federal prison! How many people has he been made to Payback how much money has he been forced to Fork over out of those billions that he made to clean up the mess that he created along with the rest of you motherfukers in healthcare industry how many of you have ever given back what you have put out in the way of junkie ISM or pain instead of taking care of your patient and blaming them for being the cause of being kicked out of the doctor's office to begin with over a f**** prescription of Valium which I obviously can't write so the problem wasn't with me it was with the doctor who forgot to take it out of my notes and kept prescribing it to me! When you only asked for two times over to year. Both January's 2018 and 2019 to fly because your deathly afraid of flying and then he doesn't take it out of your notes and keeps accidentally prescribing it to you which leads you to be kicked out of the doctor's office but they claim they did it because you were late to an appointment when you file the first and second level complaint. Then they turn around and tell others the real reason they kicked you out was due to issues with prescription Valium and like I said I can't write those prescriptions out during covid they said wait in your car until we call you in when they called me I wasn't in the lot she said as soon as you pull in coming I did my appointment was for 9 a.m. I signed in and was told by 9:04 a.m. that I would not be seen because I was late he was looking for whatever reason he could just throw me out I hope he lives with this and burns in hell for it! I'm talking about you dr. Mark Morrissey I hope you rot in hell for the rest of your days for what you did to your patients that you didn't give a f*** about! And I really hope when you need somebody you get the same treatment you gave me and there's nobody there for your ass!
The murderers should go back to dancing on tik tok…go get your boosters you fi lthy mu rderers.
Seems like many multimillion dollar businesses are experiencing some form of understaffing.
Because the big money is in big pharmaceutical companies and nurses and healthcare workers are underpaid some nurses make around 25 dollars an hour
It seems like the nurse's union or association is exacerbating this issue. They were offered a 19.1% wage increase?! The staffing issues are a trend across the U.S. I understand this can create unsafe conditions, however there is no way to just magically get enough personnel at once. You can't just wave a wand and produce more nurses or even nursing schools. As more older nurses retire and leave the workforce, this issue will only get worse. It's the time where those nurses share their true colors as to why they entered the medical field in the first place.
Recruit nurses in other countries if that’s the problem .
Too much democracy is not Good
I've been a "slave" nurse for 37 years, used and abused for most of these times. Never been unionized, but ALWAYS wanted that!! You go girls!!
There is no nurse shortage. Health care facilities do this intentionally. They squeeze every dropp of you to save money
yall about to be replaced by illegal immigrants turned visa employees for 1/3 of the pay
Greed!
A great profession but the hospitals just want to see the $ . Whatever corners are taken they think the nurses will make do while putting our license and patients lives on the line. Heaven forbid that when the CEOs family members, friends , and neighbors are admitted these patients expect to be treated like royalty and the CEO or higher ups will do everything to make sure it’s done. Really don’t like this type of nepotism because all patients should be treated the same. This is BS.
Go Ladies!
Protest idea 💡: stick all the CEO’s, managers, and overpaid healthcare admin staff in the same hospital with the same nurse to patient ratio they expect everyone else to survive on. Policy will change that day.
I’m only 2 minutes in….GIVE THESE NURSES WHAT THEY WANT!!! When I was hospitalized for 2 months due to Preterm Labor, the only thing that kept me sane were the Labor and Delivery nurses. They are the ones who cared for me and spent the most time with me. And when the baby came, they were INVALUABLE. They taught me how to care for a newborn. I support the nurses! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As an LVN, they need to make the RN bridge easier to get into! It's a 4 year wait where I live. It's crazy!
Nursing sucks!!
so what they are asking is more nurses since the patient ration is 1 nurses to 24 patients. Soooo why are they also protesting increase of wages? If they give them the nurses they demand why increase wage? An RN start how much? 35/hr/ Do they know how much a liscense med tech make? 25 dollars/hr
Higher ups are cheap and want to put more money in their pockets by being stingy.
Overworked and underpaid medical staff, OVERpaid athletes, rappers, entertainers, etc.
Our middle & high schools recruit MUCH BETTER than our medical & law enforcement systems, both of which have underpaid ground-level workers. Also, the money is there to pay higher wages, we just need to get corperate America and The Big 5 not to be as greedy and evil in priorities. But how do you straighten the powerful crooked?
Good! These hospitals need to value their workers!
there are no shortages if you just pay them better. offer 150k/year in every hospital, then tell us if you're still short.
NYC is too busy taking care of illegal immigrants
Nyp problem is too many under 35 they don’t have touch Cornell about 8 yrs ago was completely different most in 50s those ladies I love to this day miss quite a bit the new crew of drs graduating also look alarming death may become soon a relief for many
Mont Sinai has for yrs been extrodinarily horrible monte fior is also bad especially the ones born in the West Indies
Who’s taking care of the patients while they are outside bitching about money I’m sure someone is still waiting for the Motrin the dr orders 6 hrs ago
I’ve lived in nyc it’s not nice to say but there’s not a nurse I’d ever miss I am a long term cancer patient and they are horrible let the drs pass the meds they are rude mean just awful and lazy
I would… get a different job.
I'm a retired RN and this is what short staffing looks like: A nurse is at the bedside about to give a pt his meds, suddenly the pt's roommate who hasn't seen his nurse for hours, goes berserk throwing everything in he grasp. This nurse stops what she's doing and intervenes then forgets to administer the meds to her and they are discovered on the pt's bedside stand by the next shift. They report her and she's is fired and reported to the state board of nursing who reprimands her that becomes a matter of public record that impacts her career for the rest of her life.
if I could get the education paid for I would have loved to go back to become a nurse but I can not afford it. A lot of us in the same situation 😞
