A community outside of Phoenix is furious after being cut off from its municipal water supply. NBC’s Vaughn Hillyard has more on how residents in the Rio Verde Foothills are doing everything to bring water back to their homes as others question why developers continue to build on dry land.

Didn't a governor from AZ sell the water rights to the Saudi Arabia a few years back
did that man just say a housing development was building 100thousand homes?? sir that is not logical 100thousand people just dont up and buy homes in scottsdale
Sonoran desert should have been your first clue
I'll give you 100 dollars each for your houses
Build some more houses in the desert dummies
how about we stop populating the desert. it’s just seems unreasonable to put water where it’s hard to keep… am i wrong?
There’s no water to give. 🤷
This sounds like a good start. We should cut off all desert cities from the Colorado rivier.
That's why I love California, much better here
Arizona…obviously a Republican state. How clueless can you be? Republicans complain about California, yet go and repeat the same mistakes.
Agriculture/farming…is your source of food. Having water without food is not much better. We learned in grade school that in 30years, people will be fighting for water. That was based on how much the States uses water. Even now, the houses being built in this area are massive. You need excess of everything. People in the rest of the world don't live in smaller homes b/c they liked to be cramped.
No surprise. Saudi has been using unlimited water for years and been given sweet deals for water rights at a substantially discounted rate from the Land Dept. and politicians since 2016. I agree the buyer should read the fine print before signing escrow docs, but a builder or realtor won't wast an extra breath to tell the buyer. All American way folks…greedy money. All elected officials (Rep and Dems) are guilted of getting kick backs too.
Reminds me of when a hurricane ravages through home towns and trailer parks, the owners stubbornly rebuild, again, and when another hurricane hits the same spot a year after, everyone has a pikachu surprise face, and demand to rebuild again….a suburban home in a desert having water delivered would be a massive crimson flag
What is happening to America?
Being a Coloradan, I'm freaking sick of our water supply being shifted to AZ! Man's arrogance thought building in the desert was a good idea, morons 😐. Privilege and zero accountability – I think the world is over the whining – these people chose to build here…
Developers walk away with their profit…..individuals play along. Then the consequence……. Yet still talking about future growth?????
This is not an inexpensive area. Homes there cost quite a bit of money. I feel bad for them, but this is sort of what you get in a state that has few consumer legal protections and small government. If you want low taxes and luxury homes, you're probably going to end up paying one way or another. The builders should have never been allowed to build there, but the state motto should be "Caveat emptor," not "Ditat Deus."
Missed the 100 year water supply projection by 99 years.
Bunch entitled people.
And how many golf courses are there? How many people have lawns?
This is why Scottsdale is pronounced — SNOTSDALE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait until the Civil War starts. There will be hundreds of millions of Americans trapped in their cities with all of the criminals they fought to keep our of prison with no electricity, water, food, or fuel.
We don't have enough resources for our own citizens, yet they let a couple million people cross the border in 2022.
