Why even have a debt ceiling?!!! Imagine if any of us decided on a ceiling above which we wouldn't pay? If the Government can do it, why not us? Why are Republicans always freaking out about spending, when it's used to help middle-class folks, working-class folks, poor folks, homeless folks, and veterans; to protect the environment; improve access to healthcare; improve infrastructure; improve education; help poor countries, whose economies we've wrecked, and with whom we must build goodwill to prevent additional wars? Why is it that Republicans don't have any problem spending tons of money on welfare for billionaires? How is that being fiscally conservative? Why are Republicans okay with Socialism to help billionaires, but not if it's to help the rest of us? Why are Republicans freaked out about increasing the minimum wage, but enthusiastic about increasing the fortunes of billionaires? What's the point of wasting billions and billions of dollars by refusing to raise the debt ceiling and by shutting down the Government? Seems to me that Democrats and Progressives are more fiscally conservative than Republicans. Democrats/Progressives spend money more wisely than Republicans.

Interesting how the most prosperous country in the world is arguing about debt. When I studied economics in university, we learned the U.S. calculates debt in the GDP. Perhaps, the U.S. should use their financial stability to avoid debt. We should not be in debt.
