People freak out at Egg prices and then proceed to buy a Starbucks that cost same amount as the eggs they where just complaining about.
I'll say there's choices we should make to stop egg prices from rising… one of them is to boycott the eggs, residents and businesses (mainly restaurants) alike. Yes, it means we'll have limited food but also means we can try something new. But there's another choice and yet it's to improvise the situation… buy some live chickens (4 by minimum is recommended), so we can get some eggs by egg laying hens. Not only it helps with the egg prices… it would also have a healthier diet with orange yolk. My advice for owning egg laying chickens… limit your pesticides and herbicides as chickens usually eat the bugs and seeds, keep dogs and cats away from chickens (mostly it'll be the cats in danger with the chickens), and get some rubbing alcohol or get some baby wipes just to sanitize the eggs.
I'm so sick of them using bird flu it's a lie i'm in the egg hauling from farm to processing bird flu has not impacted production one fucking bit.If you want to know what's going on ask the government they are powdering eggs and sending them overseas to Ukraine and China. Now china got hurt by the bird flu very bad and we are sending tons of eggs and frozen chicken to china I mean tons. All this will end sometime late April to early May when the contract with China ends you will see abundance of eggs and chicken on the market.

Yeah I don't buy it. There is somthing big happening right now. All sort of crazy stuff been happening after covid. It's not only eggs but all inelastic goods prices have been soring. Here j Australia a dozen of eggs costed 2 AUD but now its 7 add to that milk, poultry. Seems all animal products are getting expensive

If the entire US boycotts buying eggs, they will have to drop the prices back down; it's simple supply vs demand. Then we can buy when the prices are low, then we'll all have a stock pile by the next time they raise the prices because of the influx in sales.
Price hikes this steep this fast are driven by corporate greed which has engineered a shortage in the midst of the legitimate concern of bird flu. Lock them up!!

If Costco can keep the baked chicken at $5, then maybe it should get into the egg sector. US has been bless with lower food price too long, so I expect it will cost more than the mortgage with water problem.
so if the bird flu that serious then why arent we seeing shortages for chicken (meat) and other other items that use eggs as an ingredient?? I imagine if one bird is sick then they probably would have to assume they all have to be infected so they risk health issues to consumers so that would in theory create shortages elsewhere. IDK something isn't adding up here.
If those birds are sick why would anyone would want to eat them? Not me.

So inflation is just greedy people increasing the price. What's the need to pay higher prices? There's absolutely no need to increase the price simply because there's less product. It doesn't cost farmers more money to produce less product. It all just comes to producers, distributors, and stores not making as much money as THEY want. Maybe instead of just dealing with the higher prices, we should be asking why these people choose to charge more. Supply and demand is BS. It's a system to justify greed. I have less to sell so I'll increase the price so I make as much as I did last year.

Reading all these comments, I think most of the individuals do not realize that when 40 million birds had to be destroyed, you would see a price increase due to demand. Similarly, all mill fires inflated the price of wood. That eventually came back down, or at least coming down in price. The same thing will happen with eggs. It will normalize. When there is a smaller supply of a product and a large demand, prices go up. Supply and demand, people! We live in a capitalist society. What do you expect?

Simple fix. Stop buying them, stop eating them. Find substitutes. Easy economics. Supply and demand. Stop demand, supply will increase, price will drop.
