Oil companies who fund GOP dont like competition. Suppose, if Biden wasnt such a nice guy, he could just embargo / executive order oil companies to export less than current 80%, diverting it to domestic storage, if it existed. The infrastructure isnt here as oil companies didnt want or need it, with last refinery built in 79. He could also order US owned storage / facilities be built to compete, although seems a bit anti-capitalist. There never was shortage and more drilling wont affect pump price , but might make more profit for companies , also maybe not. Most oil production in US is alot more expensive than other parts of world , so why would shell, exon , bp, throw money at it. Even Trump occasionally got got of step with GOP , proposing competition in various sectors , like medicine, only to get his knuckles whacked by GOP owners.
Why not let members of the Democratic Party in Congress go a year or so without salaries like the American people did during Covid lockdowns.
