People of "color" frequently feel forced, out of frustration, to conduct their own investigations into cases of killed or missing children, as these cases are rarely accorded the same level of attention and priority as those involving "white" households. Sometimes it takes the parents of children from underprivileged neighborhoods to make an appearance on television for law enforcement to take action and move their cases along.
