Netflix is being careful about its plans to crack down on password sharing after deleting one of its possible new rules from its FAQ page. The streaming platform has said it plans to roll out its password sharing plan more broadly before the end of March. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin has more.

Laughs in free streaming
I’m getting Hulu
i canceled my account they kept raising prices and kept removing content
Netflix been profitable for past 10 years, with explosive profits in past 5. Once, netflix supported password sharing. I think the need for more profits is to satisfy shareholders. Maybe to capitalize off marketshare now that there are other streaminf giants. But regardless, the need for this doesnt seem to be based on declining profitability…
And so another corporation decides to punish it's userbase because extra money is on the table.
yup can see this happening. netflex is gonna shut down in the future in 2 to 3 years from now. they made a big mistake stoping password shareing. and now netflex is only gonna make ppl pirate more movies now because its free.
over the past year the shows and movies on netflix have been underwhelming , to say the least . bon voyage to netflix . i have discovered tubi , a complete ad funded show and movie site . the ads have been limited to a bearable amount . the selection of movies does not include any recent movies or shows , but the aforementioned are entertaining . other sites i have tried out , you tube and plex , are sites that one can pay a fee , and see no ads . you tube is very pricey , while plex is reasonably priced . there are other entertainment sites , that i haven't looked into , but these are alternatives . do your homework just to show netflix , that you are not going to accept their new rules .
This will only hurt them. Nobodies gonna pay for 2+ accounts. They’re just going to cancel and go to another service and continue to share passwords
If a lot of people didn't freeload in the first place then we wouldn't be in this situation with Netflix to begin. With all the people that are whining about sharing their password or people not being able to freeload you guys need to remember this and this only you're the cause of why we're in this situation in the first placeand one of the reasons why Netflix raise their prices as much is they do.
Cyber bullying done right 😂
Netflix really got punked and they caved quick af! 😂😂😂😂
Xbox did a similar thing many years ago. Requiring people to log in every 30 days. The outcome was predictable. They lost a huge share of market value. The CEO considered shutting the Xbox division down. To this day they are still suffering the consequences of that decision. Now they're spending 69 billion dollars just to compete against their main rivals, PlayStation and Nintendo.
Some kids don’t have a single house hold. How many divorced or separated parents are out there? So if my kid has Netflix on their (my) computer and have it at their mothers, is that ok do I have to pay more for that?
Taking a short on Netflix
So, if you live in two different places, you have to pay for a separate account?
Pirating will increase because people will realize the value of OWNING your own content. Blockbuster will make a come back soon!!!
me and 3 of my friends have one account with 4 profiles. We chose that so we all have a netflix profile and we pay it together. if they forbd that we will just stop using netflix. No way I'm gonna spend more money for this platform which has a very limited quality content. Netflix should remember that its a luxury and not a necessity.
Netflix would be the next block buster. It's over.
I mean it’s Netflix choice to lose their customers 🤷♂️ HBO, Hulu, Disney+ and etc aren’t complaining 🤑
BBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT
wow, they're going to lose so many current subscribers over this. No one who is sharing passwords are going to pay for their own account. Can't wait to see em back track on this after they lose a bunch of people.
What happen to you netflix
Looks like pirating will make a comeback. I guess trends really do come full circle 🤷🏽♂️
Netflix has not heard of mobile data.
This is going to cost them so many subscribers I believe. No ideal why they just or not like other streaming services who only allow like two or three streamers at once seemed like a safer option.
I refuse to pay more. If they actually go fwd with this, I will just cancel their services. I only allow my hubby and children access to my password. I have 2 kids in college, and I travel for dr appts and hospitalizations. If I can’t watch when I’m in the hospital, I’m done. I’ll just watch my other streaming services and if the other streaming services start this c*ap too, then I’ll be back to cable!!!!
Does Netflix not realize the streaming wars are still very real? There’s no monopoly in this space yet. People will go elsewhere for content. We’re in the age where there are too many things to watch and they’re trying to make it more difficult for the user. Super stupid move. Honestly, the only thing I had time to watch on Netflix this year was “Wednesday”. That’s $20+ monthly from me. It’s been a great couple of decades with you. Raising prices irk a bit, but I was too lazy to cancel. Make it inconvenient to watch and adding ads as an alternative? That’s where I draw the line.
