The unbreakable bond forged by a life-saving kidney donation



In an emotional video, Carrie Kimball surprises her distant relative, Bob Scarborough, with the news that she will be his kidney donor. Scarborough had been battling kidney disease for decades and was in dire need of a transplant. Now, a year and a half after that emotional surprise, the transplant was successful and the two now share an unbreakable bond.

  3. Uh… it's a nice story and all, but he's pretty old and is going to die soon anyways. She should've just kept the kidney and gave it to someone else who could live longer with it. Also makes her more likely to die.

  4. This brought me to tears. I lost my left kidney to RCC 14 years ago. Part of the other one had to go not too long after. I've been on dialysis for years. This guy got really lucky. NOBODY donates kidneys. 6400 people in End State Renal Disease will die waiting for a transplant this year. I'm 79 and have made the decision that I wouldn't take a donated kidney that a younger person with a family could use. Thousands of useful kidneys go up the crematory chimneys every day. It is such a stupid waste of life.
