People listening to this news need to learn how to read between the lines of what this president is saying and to the audience he speaks.
They are meeting because they are losing this war. The inability to end wars is not atypical for the US. It start wars and then loses them.
Wars are form of generating wealth but that can only go so far before the people into which the war is the theater of operations are at the brunt of the war. The suffering is too great. Zalenski repressed his opposition and that can last only so long sounds like his dictatorial rule over Ukraine is fading. He needs a win. He needs help.
The war is profitable and there are economic interests that want the war to continue. The president wants to get re-elected needs a win. The allies are conflicted. Germany has been strong armed into the war. France tried to negotiate the war to end has its own opposition to NATO. Italy broke away from it all. Spain is not even involved. There are no allies but only a Tripartite Oligarchy that wants this war. The US is internally conflicted. The Democrats chose the wrong path to victory at home. A solid victory would have been as simple as cancelling student loans and solve the housing, health, education, crisis in the US. This is probably the weakest alliance in modern history.

All that remains is which of the allies will get the spoils.

He keeps saying that sanctions don't work but he keeps imposing them on countries that do not agree with his global agenda, Joe Biden and his administration are even going after Americans who disagree with their policies. The sanctions are an effort to squeeze Putin's ability to carry out his war and to pressure the Russian people to rise up or the military to revolt.
