Residents of East Palestine, Ohio were forced to evacuate after the fiery train derailment that left clouds of black smoke due to the burning of hazardous materials. The train operator Norfolk Southern said it’s provided more than $2 million to 1,500 families so far. NBC News’ Ron Allen reports the latest.

A thousand dollars for the health of your lungs and brain and those of your children, and the safety of your water , air , and soil. There is no amount of money that Norfolk Southern could pay to compensate these people, given the unknown extent of the impact on this population's health in the future. NS should be sued for a million times that amount , but sadly even if they win , litigation could drag on for years and the lawyers will take a huge chunk.
