Burlington, Vermont, police identified the suspect in the 51-year-old cold case murder of Rita Curran using a discarded cigarette butt that was found next to her body. WPTZ’s Sid Bewlay reports.

He live 80+ years and the only crime he can be linked to is murder…through a discarded cigarette next to her body and DNA on her clothing….him and his wife both were home and heard nothing…and her story never changed?? I have no doubt there is something off here. No way!!
So those detectives were so bad back then, they couldn't catch a killer that lived right upstairs from the woman.
They should charge his children if he had any
Imagine strangling an innocent woman because you had a fight with your wife and you can't control your emotions.

So now do something with the wife who lied about it
Would a cigarette butt alone be enough to convict the accused beyond a reasonable doubt? It would be tempting to say sure this guy did it and just close the case.
On a side note, that is a cool apartment with the balcony on top!
But still good even in his death that he is known as a murderer.
I wonder how he died? Drugs?
That evidence sounds very shaky as the lived in the same building. If he was still alive I dont think theyd get a conviction.
The dude's dead. What's the point? Can't do jack to him now. Why can't these lazy police check the DNA on the evidence decades earlier? Pathetic. Defund the police!
