Florida man contracts brain-eating amoeba through tap water
#Florida #NBCNews

Misleading title. Y'all trying to make it look like the water is deadly to drink, when in fact it was caused by putting the water up his nose via netty pot. You're not supposed to use tap water for a netty pot. Just dumb.
I’ve really missed all these “man in Florida” stories.
Oh, Florida man.
Thankfully, we don't have that parasite in Colorado water. Although it's not impossible for it to suddenly show up one day in the future. I heard it's something to due with the elevation here that makes it hard for them to thrive and reproduce.
I hope His family sues!! Somebody didn't do their job right!!
This is why I drink bottled water only, even at restaurants.
Lol @ Florida. Wtf goes in in your heads? You have so many companies that are just dumping waste, not storing it properly, nor being held accountable if anyone gets sick. That's what you vote for, helping corporations to make more money and hurt you. Considering Florida has the oldest population too, doubtful you're bodies can handle as much as a young healthy person, so you're even more at risk. Yet here you are…
Drink and bathe in it the asnwer is yes .until more ppl get it then the answer is no
Too bad people don’t read and follow instructions. I know it says to only use distilled water or to boil your water to purify it.
Because Florida….
dont drink tap, drink bottled.
No that's what they're blaming it on I wonder if it wasn't from one of their swabs are they ran the Q-tip up your nose
😳😳😳😳
It sounds like the Florida Governor doesn’t care about the people. This is due to bad govern. He should be impeached!!!!
@1:40 This guy is saying it's OK to drink sink tap water and to wash your vegetagles. So amoeba only attacks you through your nose/spinal fluid ?
Boil your water!
Just like the Ohio Republican government IN BED with the TRAIN DERAILMENT corporate executives, Ron DeSantis didn't care to prevent this from happening in the first place. They ignored it and until it kills people, Republicans will stop counting their corporate dollars momentarily.
In America? This happened? FLORIDA, YOU GOTTA START CHOOSING YOUR GOVERNMENT WISELY. Ron DeSantis is busy with his CULTURE WAR WITH YOUR TAX MONEY to take care of threats like these.
Really?….sounds more like a misuse of another gimmick product….poor person catching that disease though….😮
These are the topics that DeSantis and governors all over the country should focus on but instead they are too focused on partisan politics and arguing with each other!
How about filter the water better … ya know just a thought
A brain eating amoeba in Florida? Did it starve?
This might explain a lot, like DeSantis and Mar-a-lago.
Common sense is not Common practice. This is natural selection at its finest
great, now i lost appetite eating this brain
Tragic. My Neti Pot instructions state use distilled water.
This is why I DO NOT drink tap water
Turn him to ashes
Can you bathe in the water didn't somebody contract it that way
This is why you boiled the water from tap (then let it cool down to room temperature) if you’re ever going to use it for Neti Pot. If anything distilled water.
Well, JESUS CHRIST. are you sure? oh my god
This was on a episode on a thousand ways to die. They said in the show to NEVER use tap water in a Neti pot because of this very reason
Well this is scary.
NGL When I first saw this video it freaked me tf out but when I saw it was from using a neti pot I calmed down a bit. I have a huge phobia of getting this amoeba from drinking water (really specific I know) but it really freaks me out. I saw a comment saying that this is from floridas dirty water but I remember a few years ago I think this happened to someone else (I'm not sure where) but I don't think it was from the water it was just unlucky. Just don't put water in your nose and be safe yall.
Drink the water and bath with it? I’m scared now!
Mine says on the box to not use tap water. Did this person not read?
In the 80's, I grew up swimming in lake water. We would drink from water hoses in the summer. My parents would fill up one of those plastic kids pools with water. We had the slip and slide. Water was safe. This is so sad……years ago, when the neti pot first came out…I had bought one in 2006….I used tap water. I don't recall seeing a warning about amoebas in the water. Now…this is so scary.
Rare but i see them quite alot on the news?, naybe they should do more study to determine whether its truly rare or not wtf
