A 7-year-old boy is now his older brother’s hero after donating bone marrow to the 13-year-old diagnosed with leukemia when he couldn’t find a match. NBC News’ Kate Snow has the story.

There needs to be more stories like this out in the media. People need to know that it's not scary or risky to be a donor for this anymore. Standard of care for things that require Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) means stem cell transplant now. Getting stem cell transplant is way safer for both the donor and the recipient. It's really just "a shot" instead of a surgery. My brother compared it to 2 days of plasma donation in a row when he was getting stem cells harvested from his blood to be my donor.

I lost my only brother younger than me, he was 37 and for 17 years I remember him with love and joy. He was a good Brother and a Great Best Friend. It is very nice for a 7 year old little brother helping his 13 years old big brother. Hermanos para siempre!
A teacher in our area donated his bone marrow to a student and passed. It was not expected and a shock to the community.
