While I hate to ever agree with AOC, she's correct in this instance. This bill is not okay. Banning TikTok is not okay. Shame on anyone supporting this crap. Most of the crap they said about TikTok isnt' even true and the parts that are, who cares. Of course it collects your data… so does every other app. The Restrict Bill is a violation of the constitution as is the government overstepping its bounds and deciding what apps I can use on my own phone. Wake up people. They are trying to take your rights away, all of them.
If you support this in any way, you need to go read this bill. It is Patriot Act on Steroids. The government already has too much control and this would basically give them unlimited, free reign to spy on any American. Worse, if I decide they have no right to ban something and use a VPN to go around their unconstitutional ban, I can then be fined $15,000 and imprisoned for up to 20 years for using a VPN to bypass their BS.
This bill is a clear violation of both the 1st and 4th amendments. IF you call yourself a conservative and you support this in any way, you need to examine it closely. Conservatives should never be okay with more government powers, especially at the Federal level.

I don't agree with anything that she says until I saw the full video from her and I agree fully on what she said: "In fact, the United States is one of the only developed nations in the world that has no significant data or privacy protection laws on the books," the congresswoman stresses, pointing to the European Union's legislation as an example. "So to me, the solution here is not to ban an individual company, but to actually protect Americans from this kind of egregious data harvesting that companies can do without your significant ability to say no."
