That food inflation number is an average. I know this because some of the food stuffs I purchase are up 65-110%. Bread is now nearly $4 instead of the $2.50.
Inflation is running outta control and the controls in place don't work, because they are not adjusted for the current economy. They are simply out of date OR are not the correct controls for the very fragile US economy.
A key indicator is how the US Stock Market currently reflects the Japanese before it's long term persistent Recession.
