There isn't enough electrical power in the U.S. to regularly charge up hundreds of millions of EVs.

I have a car that is about 20 years old and I’m poor I can’t ever afford an ev. I use my car to go get groceries, doctor appt or take my baby dog to the vet. I don’t drive out of town but I need my car! It is disgusting what they are trying to do
