This is a political court now, and the party they support has adopted government by fear, threats, and actual violent terrorism, so they will make the political decision that online threats are not a crime. That will be the ruling, no time machine necessary.

If that happens the best course of action would be to stay off social media. Because just about anything can be interpreted as a threat.

If victims' claims that they were sexually harassed, threatened, or offended by another are automatically accepted by evidence of a crime, then everyone would be living in fear. Anyone would be able to accuse you of a crime for a behavior that is considered normal nowadays. In South Korea, a woman can send a man to prison by falsely accusing him of a sexual crime. The police and the D.A.'s office are required to automatically accept her story as truth unless there is inculpatory evidence. Still, there would be no backlash for the lie. Lives are being ruined because of this policy, and it is called justice by society. Don't be like us.
As a student, I lived under a dictatorship. So I had to be careful not to say a word that might seriously offend the dictator. I am now living in a democratic society, and I have to be careful not to say a word that might slightly offend anyone. I felt much more freedom back in those days.
