The Debt Ceiling Bill only pays for Congress's past spending. Since a default on our payment toward our National Debt would send the economy into a tailspin and affect virtually every American so badly, the threat to not pass it if other Congressional wishes aren't agreed to amounts to extortion using the threat to greatly damage the American economy for political leverage. The President has promised to negotiate in good faith with Congressional leaders on future spending but doesn't want to link The Debt Ceiling Bill to other Congressional objectives, which their present offer requires rolling back other Biden legislative achievements. I am a conservative but this is simply dirty strong arm politics that Republicans are engaging in. Republicans passed the bill to raise the Debt Ceiling three times under President Trump. Now they won't unless the president agrees to roll back some of his legislative achievement already passed into law? Despicable!
