Folks are surprised by the Coke can Judge committing a crime? A judge that does not speak for 10 years was obviously bought off a looooooong time ago. Right?
Where are the checks and balances?
Is it really "smearing someone's reputation" to just state facts now?

I've heard of Harlan Crow before this story. Let's look on the bright side. It's good to know who owns SCOTUS, especially since the people seem to change every couple years.

The fix for this isn't doable for the corruption that HAS happened. The fix for this is doable for the corruption that will CONTINUE to happen, if unchecked. There needs to be a bill out of the Judicial Committee in the Senate (since we know the Republican House will do nothing until pressed with a Bill in their hands already) that demands that not only that these disclosures MUST be made (as the law already states) but that a Justice MUST recuse themselves if a matter comes up or be subject to Impeachment. Plus, we should make a limit on the level of "gifts" that even can be accepted. A hefty fine of accepting beyond that gift limit is $1 for each $1 accepted in the gift (including those dollars under the limit). Then, part of the Bill would state that this is retroactive for all failed disclosures and set a "record corrections" date of a few weeks after the Bill is passed. If they don't expose their corruption willingly by then, and start recusing themselves going forward, no doubt threat of Impeachment and hefty fines once ProPublica or other news media finds the truth will be some incentive.
On top of that, ALL of the Justices should be called in to the Judicial Committee by Subpoena to answer questions regarding their finances so those answers may be put into the Congressional record at the risk and penalty of Obstruction of Congress and Contempt of Congress for the DoJ and FBI to investigate – regardless of party affiliation.
We may not be able to fix having trusted these people before. But we can "trust, but verify" (to quote Reagan) going forward.

I sure do wonder how the republican congress members would react if a story came out that detailed a liberal justices ties to a George Soros to the tune of vacations, children's school tuition, and buying and renovating that justices mothers home and letting them live there rent free. Their fake outrage over a supreme Court justice being "smeared and attacked" is laughable. Put the shoe on the other foot and they'd be throwing temper tantrums galore about needing to replace the justice in question with a conservative counterpart.

Lindsey Graham's statements show a complete lack of understanding of the case against Clarence Thomas. So what if he was appointed leg(stutters)legitimately? These ethical issues took place subsequent to his appointment and thus, he should be held responsible.
