The “timing” alone makes this claim highly suspicious. I was assaulted by a man in the 1990s myself. When I escaped & made it home to call 911, my complaint was met with skepticism & derision on the part of the dispatcher. I was told that it “sounded like an alcohol-related incident,” & that the only way they would send a patrol car out to take a statement was if I were willing to press charges that same day. Having to simultaneously oversee another family-illness emergency, & being the only member of the family who could do so, I opted not to bring any criminal charges at the time, because my family resided on close premises to the attacker’s family. Also, because the police dispatcher minimized my concerns for safety by downplaying my injuries verbally over the phone.
As a Nonwhite woman, it’s ridiculous learning the amount of money freely & unsuspiciously awarded to Ms. Carroll, imo, chiefly because she’s White & comes from some money & prominence by marriage, at least.
In view of the relatively paltry sums still under negotiations as to being “awarded” by California with regard to ADOS “reparations,” it’s simply abominable that approximately 20M such citizens—most of whom endure far worse conditions each & every day we exist—aren’t even considered as having endured enough brutality, mental torture, pain, suffering & hardship—mostly without violent overreaction—to “deserve” even this sum in due consideration to Systemic Racism/Injustice, in all its manifestations against us, per individual.
Yet this “victory for all women” is being upheld as some “progress” & compensatory measure for a 30-years-ago scuffle reportedly having taken place in a ladies’ dressing room at a fashionable retailer, which only two surviving people were made aware about at the time it occurred, & for decades afterward, apparently. But somehow, in 2023, the entire society is expected to care about this Outcome, being so monumental as it’s been purported.
Because everyone’s “equal.” Oh, yeah, RIGHT. Especially, everyone in United Trumptopia-concept.
As always, I’m for True Justice. Truth, Justice & Correctness, collectively, which produce Balance between people. This “case” merely serves to illustrate WHY that’s never been applied within Systemic Injustice. I also “feel” absolutely nothing whatever about #45, #46, & #47, based on how they very obviously “feel” about everyone classified Nonwhite, but most especially ADOS, in a USA-concept. ⚖️
