I feel as soon as a kid turns 18 he's obligated to pay rent at home if you don't need the money just don't tell the kids you going to put in a savings account case they ask for money in the future

Mom & dad had supported her in every way until she graduated High School. If she is earning money it is only right she contributes to the household expenses. If she had a place of her own she would have to pay rent there. It is only right. She like most youngsters her age thinks they are entitled to free room & board for a lifetime from the parents. 😂
This teaches the value of work! $300 a month is very cheap compared to what she would pay out on her own in the rental market, but she also gets all the benefits of a home that is set up for everyday modern living!

It doesn't hurt to charge them, it teaches them responsibility and the value of a dollar. What i would do is take the money they charge and put it in a bank account and save it for when they move out. Don't tell them about it, just save it one the behalf and later when they need it, they will be spending their own money.

As an adult with a child, I paid rent to my parents, without being told because I was a responsible ADULT. DUH!!!
