All of a sudden we're concerned about spending? Really? 2 Trillion to the rich by the Republicans just 4 yrs ago. And the tax payers are held hostage with McCarthy? Republicans need to be replaced by a party that works for the hard working Americans.

Congress has revised the debt ceiling 78 times since 1960. During Trump's presidency, the federal debt held by the public increased 39%. The Trump administration incurred the second-highest annual deficit of any president in history. The U.S. trade deficit in goods and services increased 40.5%. Home prices rose 27.5%. The distance separating America's highest and lowest income brackets grew by almost 9% annually.

Many commentators on here probably have not even read the House bill (Limit Save Grow Act) that passed recently based on their ignorant comments posted. The House voted to INCREASE the debt ceiling while at the same time voted to remove much of the "GREEN energy" billions of dollars projects where 100% of all products that make up an EV batteries from China or from Chinese mines. This massive spending to force EV's onto everybody before our infrastructure is set up to handle this big change will bankrupt this country. Right now the ball is in Schumer's court as he refuses to even bring up the bill to the Senate. The House has done their job. It's Schumer's and the Senates turn now. Read the bill next time before making such ignorant comments or is it that people will go down with the ship just to support their party. We are WAYYYY past political issues. This is a national security issue. If we default, we could lose the one advantage we have in the world and that is the DOLLAR would no longer be the world currency of choice and that would be very disastrous to our country. If this happens then what you are seeing now with inflation will pale in comparison to what's to come. In this bill the House also voted to stop the Student loan massive 400 billion dollar bailout, not fund the new IRS staff increase, voted to Raise the National debt by 1.5 Trillion dollars, imposes a 1% cap in increased future spending, rolls back spending to 2022 levels, takes back ALL COVID-19 funding not spent. Other things that this bill does is to Repeal "Green" Tax credits included in the " Inflation Reduction Act", Enact the REINS Act to limit Executive Overreach and pass the HR1 Energy Bill.
