You guys never cease to amaze me, our roads are falling apart because they are unstainable, huge homeless problems, minimum wage stagnate, most of the infrastructure is crumbling, our government is so evil they protect corporations over citizens letting them steal wages, and make laws that protect them not us. The list of problems we face as Americans are so huge the least of it is trying to get to Mars. Then you listen to mentally handicapped sub human garbage like Elon downs, who thinks the better idea is to try and make Mars habitable instead of not destroying earth. The same guy who gets his workers killed, forces in humane hours, uses slave labor, and so many other foul things its disgusting. You have to be insane to want to be locked on another planet under that mad mans control. Well I hope you all stop drooling over sub human billionaires who are such scum, it is mind boggling how many people follow them.

This is a dog and pony show to get the masses excited and happy to part with even more tax dollars that will go to support the idiocy of the latest US-tax-revenue-made-billionaire-faux-genius. Why wouldn't Elon Musk focus on making the Earth's environment more healthy and habitable for the billions that already live here – there is a huge profit-margin in doing so – instead of funneling money from impoverished workers into yet another series of boondoggle-pie-in-the-sky-space-projects? Musk is infant-minded. He is an infant with an ignorant view of what would truly be required to establish any kind of humanity-saving colony on Mars. At best, it would cost tens of trillions just to place a small-sized dome with enough self-sufficient life support systems that it might produce one generation consisting of a maximum of four families on Mars. But they would probably be obliterated by one of the massive dust storms Mars is known for. This entire idea is meritless and hasn't been researched at all. And none of the biodomes have been successful. And they've all been located in the best possible climates on Earth, not in any desert or extreme climate of any kind. This is pure fallacy.
If we want to explore space, we should be devoting everything we can to research and develop faster-than-light-speed space travel – the manufacturing of artificial wormholes. (An impossible thing, according to Einstein.) Anything less will force humanity to sit and stare through telescopes until the end of time. Or I guess we could try to do the Mars thing. Elon seems so intent on this one idea – it's so sad because it's obviously going to fail and it's going to cost taxpayers trillions while it's failing. But Elon will only continue getting wealthier… and that's what's most pathetic. He really bears no risk for this project for some reason.

IMO the problem isn't going to be the space ship. The real challenge is exposing human beings to 4 to 6 months of hardcore radiation from the sun and getting them there healthy and able to do work.
Can't we limit the damage we do to just the Earth. The US is now in a race with China, so the US is worried about losing its space monopoly. The US wants to weaponize space for its own interest.

The "race to Mars" is a scam. Undeniable signs of a highly intelligent civilization were found on Mars long ago. Powers on Earth know what they are dealing with. Would NBC like to see pipelines on Mars? No, not hallucinations. Pipelines. But of course, NBC doesn't want to see it. NBC doesn't want to talk about it. Like other media, NBC and its journalists got their marching orders. But I will ask again, dear NBC: Would you like to see pipelines on Mars (and a whole lot of other things)?
