Every1 is entitled to their opinion, and I'd say that one of the most important aspects of cricket captaincy that has been missed here is the superior tactical acumen of MSD, Rohit.. will add Hardik & Warner to that list.. Warner is a little blind sided about the skill, capability etc of his resources and sometimes looks uninvested or disinterested in making calls on field as he knows way too little in the early fixtures about his players.. ideally, he should be retained as DC captain with the exact same set of players & he will in all likelihood, win IPL 2024 for DC..
My point is you can call it CSK or GT or MI or DC or whatever, it is actually MSD's team, or Hardik's team, or Rohit's team or Warner's team.. the moment they leave & get replaced by a lesser captain, expect the franchise to be as bad as the ones being led by captains with lower tactical acumen such as Markram, Faf, Shreyas, Rahul etc.. MSD knows it & therefore he's got a master tactician in Ben Stokes to lead when he moves on.. & while MSD may hang around a bit once he is done, i see him carry no baggage..
Just recall what Eoin Morgan did for KKR where he took them from nowhere to finals to the point where MSD himself said KKR was the best that edition, he wasnt being graceful, he was just calling a spade a spade..
Particularly in IPL, 90% of success is defined by the tactical acumen of the captain.. for franchises that want to reverse their fortunes, thats the 1st thing.. & then of course allowing that captain to call the shots is another 6-7%..
