A Mississippi family says they want justice after an 11-year-old boy called police for help and was shot by a responding officer. The boy is back home recovering after being released from the hospital. NBC News’ Miguel Almaguer has the latest updates.

Glad he is ok. But can't help but be amazed at how this was initially played as a black kid shot by another racist white cop. Then we find out it was a black cop. Headlines had to be changed.

If anyone is surprised don’t be. Police routinely ‘fear for their safety’ when they see their own shadow. This isn’t a ‘bad apple’. This is absolutely common.
And of course they won’t release the body cam. Police unions will protect this horrible human being to the point of making the child look like a criminal
