Was it smart to enter a known storm … no. Crew did a good job of keeping the ship afloat. The communication breakdown is a big failure, keeping everyone up to date vs suddenly calling abandon ship has drastically different outcomes.

Attention FlatLanders: it's called a cruise ship because your hotel actually goes out on the ocean. Oceans, if you haven't heard, actually contain water, and water reacts to wind. If these things scare you, then perhaps you should go to Las Vegas. The cruise ships in Vegas never leave the dock, never go out on the ocean, any ocean, so you'll actually not have to worry about being on the water or becoming frightened by the wind. And shame on ABC for such pathetic reportage.

This is the same ship that lost power due to a fire some years ago and people were forced to poop in bags since nothing was working. It was the carnival Triumph now renamed Carnival Sunshine.
It cracks me up when people take vacations and NOT look deeply into the forecast. The worst storms in the Carolinas occur March thru May. Need to plan better 🙂

I only cruise royal Caribbean. If they see bad weather, they turn they have the best Doppler radar’s. This is an excusable, and the captain not keeping passengers in the loop should be fired. Carnival’s is a piece of crap cruise line.
