‘You get to create a reality for other people to live in’. …Yeah, now you're getting it. Maybe soon enough you'll do some of that "top notch", two decade late reporting about how Fox News and Facebook have literally created an entirely different reality for their viewers and users. They cause their users and viewers to live in a world of constant fear, uncertainty, and doubt. FUD, as propagandists call it.
MAYBE, when someone has the balls to follow the money to the source, we can get a discussion about how social media creates false realities where consumers and users are constantly comparing themselves to people and "influencers" that are NOT reality. Their glamorous lives shown on the camera aren't real. It's already been reported that it effects teenages. No. Social media affects everyone who uses social media because they compare and contrast themselves, they follow trends in fashion, music, food, items, etc.
That's just the consumer anxiety and inferiority complexes created by the psychological manipulation allowed by US marketing laws. That's aside from the constant state of FUD that the news media constantly feeds people. When you combine the two together, you have chaos. You have people trying to fit into a reality that doesn't exist; that are being threatened in a reality that doesn't exist; is fighting a holy war and a political battle for their country in a reality that doesn't' exist. And where do they turn? To the person who says "I alone can fix it." An authoritarian. I hope you finally understand that corporations and billionaires do this to the US population on purpose.
The problem with what is happening in the United States with this specific issue that literally caused the January 6th Insurrection and literal attempt at overthrowing the US government, does not lie in the corporations. It lies in the cowardice of Congress who have refused to take action against these corporations and protect consumers simply because they donate so much money to politics.
