Trump went through boxes to find that Iran doc. He did it himself. He knew what he was doing.
Trump was acting. He was playing a role on the upcoming Presidential Apprentice and the recordings were just part of the exit interview script.
He was rehearsing the role of a former president who had been voted out of the office and fired but managed to steal papers implicating other actors on his last day. He is just such a good actor that everyone thinks it's really him and that he actually had classified documents. What he had was the script and he was flipping through the pages of the script.
