  1. I compare the soft signal to umpires call, it's all too arbitrary whether they think it carried or not, depends on the umpire, what mood they're in, whether they're concentrating or not etc. im glad they got rid of it.
I think if they're not sure, check with the 3rd umpire. I think the biggest clue as to whether it carries or not is the trajectory of the ball, if it goes straight in, fingers underneath then it's out like in this case.
It's very hard to catch it clean and then turn your hand in a way to expose the ball to the ground, you'd have to turn it around almost 180 degrees in a split second, if the ball is then touching the ground it also makes it hard to pick up off the ground afterwards as well.
The images Shubman gill posted, I'm 100% sure the ball appearing to touch ground was due to foreshortening, it's the 3d image being distorted in 2D. He can't have had his fingers underneath and then for his fingers to suddenly disappear, it's just it's being hidden by that particular 2D angle.
It has actually been demonstrated by commentators during a lunch break on channel 9, they held a ball in their hands and put their hands on the ground like they'd taken a catch but clearly making sure the ball wasn't touching the ground, looked at it with the tv cams and at certain angles it would look like it was touching the ground- the foreshortening phenomena clearly being demonstrated there.
Also you should be able to use the ground to steady your movements, as long as you don't ground the ball obviously, you're allowed to do this when you're not holding the ball so I don't see why you cannot when you have the ball in your hand.
What the 3rd umpire needs to look for is when the ball bounces first, the trajectory of the ball changes and it goes upwards before entering the hands- this is what happened clearly when Joe Root claimed a catch off Labuschagne at Lords in 2019, that was inexplicably given out by the 3rd umpire (not sure why, probably incompetence) when it clearly bounced.
Very rarely the ball is caught in the fingertips and bounces up into the main part of the hands, that's a different case and should still be given out, as long as you can see it hasn't hit the ground.
In any case I have no doubt Cam Green caught this one clean.

  2. End of the day, that’s the decision that the umpire made. It’s up to the umpire to make the decision

  3. Indian fans spewing hate to Green should be embarrassed.

  4. Ah yes India.

That great last bastion of sportsmanship.

Judging a player as a cheat when it was the umpires call (and a correct one).

Going on to judge the whole country as cheats.

Threatening Green online with assault and insulting his partner.

Setting an example the rest of us can only envy.

Mix some sugar with your grapes or buy fresh ones 🍇🤢

  5. Indian supporters whinging. What’s new. Hey Gavaskar?

  6. We always cry foul.. just ask one ques had virat taken that cstch of smith, what would we say ? It was out. Fingers were underneath ball. For any close catch if you zoom it 100% it will appear not out.. thats why umpire didnt zoom.. it was not the case of ball bouncing before that we are crying foul….

  7. India are getting owned, shubman gill is a sore loser and a flat track bully..

  8. It was a clean catch dont know why people are crying

  9. Yeah? Well Ricky Ponting would beg to differ

  10. a) it’s clearly out his fingers are under the ball on the shot from behind.

    b) it doesn’t actually matter. These 50/50 calls aren’t what decide games. The Australians also spent the day dropping absolute sitters that cost them runs. Having an argument about this is like saying “what if they’d caught this other catch” or “what if they had done a run out”. Mathematically speaking, it’ll probably have less than 1% contribution to the outcome of the match.

As for “benefit of doubt to the batsman” why? For LBWs I can kind of understand but on catches, you can’t tell me that Gill hit a good shot. He hit a bad shot, he’s been punished. As a player he has to walk away and acknowledge that.

  11. Grass isn’t like concrete, it gives a bit. As such, fingers can be under the ball while the ball is also touching the grass, which was the case here. Green had complete control of the ball and his fingers were under it. Out!

  12. All due respect, wasn't a clean catch. If the technology wasn't good enough then we need to get better angles

  13. Let's ask Haddin, the guy who knocks bails off with gloves and claims it's a clean bowled

  14. Manjrekar bolta nahi, hugta hai.

  15. When Manju says out, its not out for sure. Espn is csk haters, now India haters 🤦 waiting for the day Raunak and Manju gets fired…that day il subscribe this channel

  16. This guy has a habit of going before the wave to look cool.. worst cricketer of our childhood

  17. Anyone who denies that this was a catch doesn’t know the rules of cricket. Sorry people. Take a tissue, wipe your tears and move on.

  18. If same catch happened with australians surely would be not out completely controversial decision benefit of doubt always help batsmen why this shameless indian analyst support green

  19. Clicked the video by mistake. Bye bye.

  20. When was the last time this guy went to the doctor😂 such a shame

  21. Remember guys this is the man who called Ravindra Jadeja as “Bits and pieces"😂😂

  22. Not saying out of this frustration but Manjrekar and many indian commentators still have servitude attitude…..they always agree with white guys…..in First innings itself no-one asked about reverse swing in just 15-16 overs with outer shine…..In my opinion Ball touched ground but reality is He was given out!!!

  23. I could see the ball touch the ground even if Green's fingers were under the ball. Not out!

  24. Controversial catch.
I dont agree with third ump.
    Unlucky Shubman .

  25. Kitne paise mil rhe h espn se Manjrekar ji
