It’d be great if Trump suffered real consequences for his actions.
But as it always has, and as it especially has for the past forty years — ever since Reagan was somehow greased into office — our judicial system is about to prove, yet again, that the USA has a three-tiered legal system:
1) one for the poor, who can get sentenced to a lifetime behind bars in a violent, dangerous prison, if they steal a t.v. after jaywalking twice;
2) one for the middle class, who can get fined heavily for running over and killing a poor pedestrian, and who, if they have a bad lawyer, might do a little time in a minimum-security prison if they run up too many debts;
3) one for the wealthy and well-connected, who will get a firm public scolding — and, usually, nothing above that — for stealing tens of millions of dollars, defrauding hundreds of thousands of citizens, revealing state secrets, or even attempting to overthrow the government.
Look up “bourgeois democracy” if you want to learn what the USA has devolved to.
