The first lesson in business school is the mechanics of compounded interest, either as a positive return on banked money or as a loan cost to the borrower, and investment returns consummate to acceptable risk. If a business venture will not pay you much greater returns than the interest income or market dividends you would make on money placed in financial investments then the is no reason to be bothered with the business venture.
