What's better for workers than a higher minimum wage? A tax on vacant land and unoccupied premises. A higher minimum wage discourages hiring. But a vacancy tax on residential property makes the owners get residential tenants (and set the rents within reach of wages), while a vacancy tax on commercial property makes the owners get business tenants, who in turn will need workers, leading to higher market wages and more stable jobs.
What's better for business than a lower minimum wage? A tax on vacant land and unoccupied premises! A lower minimum wage cuts the spending power of prospective customers, and makes it harder for prospective employees to afford housing within a manageable distance of your business. But a vacancy tax on nearby residential property keeps it populated with prospective customers and workers, while a vacancy tax on nearby commercial property keeps it populated with complementary businesses that will attract foot traffic to your business.
Moreover, a vacancy tax is good for general taxpayers because avoiding the vacancy tax requires economic activity, which expands the bases of other taxes, allowing their rates to be cut!
Robots to the rescue.
7$ hour its not for you than 😂
Lion news
Here they charge the food bill, 20 percent tip and delivery charge of $20.00. A little steep for a 10 dollar meal.
YAY NEW YORK! A LIVABLE WAGE! ( Barely)
People who are upset by this are weird. Minimum wage there is $20. While their app is active they are on the clock. Asking to be paid minimum wage for their time on the clock is basic rights. These companies are making billions because they found so many loop holes. They have no location- no rent/mortgage or utilities, no company cars, no company phones, and for God sakes even found a way around paying minimum wage. Some people do make a lot of money, but the company ALWAYS makes hand over fist. Minimum wage is supposed to be mandatory. It's not an ask.
I have waited and waited for deliverys some days ill wait 5 or 6 hours to actually get 3 hours of delivery add up gas and food we barely get by its about time they step up😅
They're not going to
lay off anybody They
need delivery, a lot
of us order food.
Sadly, the more you attempt to help the workers, the more their employers will screw them in other ways to compensate for losses. Greed fueled oppression is running rampant in the good old USA! Slavery is alive and well, we just got to choose our Massa nowadays. 😣
I live near a small park where these guys get together. They don’t have anything to do until a call is made for a delivery. What other job pays someone for doing nothing??
😂 oh well if they don’t like it then they should get a REAL job
They dont pay that great for the amount per delivery and for the amout i have to pay towards maintenance of my vehicle costs. And we pay the taxes out of our pocket.. but its money in my pocket.
This is really good! The government always knows what’s best for us and companies are evil rich people- said no one ever
You already pay lime $20 for a $9 meal + tip. I can't imagine it being more expensive. I don't use the service cause it's easier for me to use the app and pick it up. Gas is cheaper.
The only way to make it sustainable is to eliminate the profit gouging.
The FLSA of 1938 has a concept "Engaged to Wait" versus "Waiting to be Engaged." Nothing new.
Meanwhile EMTs are still making like 17-18$ an hour.
I'm watching. Nice tighty whities, btw.
Fun Fact: You can actually get off your fat ass, and get your own food… that way, we don't have to worry about this kind of garbage! I know!
Crazy, isn't it?
Waiting isn’t working
They'll pass the cost onto the consumer like they have been. Will customer service improve?🤔🤨🤨
If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
