Though I suspect we disagree on practically everything else, I'm a woman (and an atheist) and I agree with Pence here. If the SBC doesn't want to include churches that are female-led, I don't see how that's any business of the government. As long as no laws are being broken, they are free to make their own rules and people who don't like it are free to not participate.

It seems Mr Pence has religious beliefs. The President of the United States must believe in God. An atheist cannot be the US president. Even in the Bible it is stated that women must remain silent in the church. Corinthians 14 :34-35

No, he wasn’t dodging the question. I have no use for the Southern Baptist Church. That does not mean I or anyone else has the right to dictate to them how they interpret the Bible. Nor does the government. If anyone disagrees with the SBC, then go find some other church.
I detest Pence for other reasons but he was correct in not trying to interfere with the SBC’s doctrine.
