We live in two different Americans.
For all those against reparations I bet they would be against having to live thru any era of slavery or oppression as a black person as well.
This is 2023 and every level of successful progress is still at a staggering disproportionate disadvantage for Black Americans.
No matter how much we achieve is never enough, Obama became president and had to endure bigots and racism.
As Black Americans do we have to accept the fact that we will never be fully welcomed in our own country, never fairly treated or protected.
It's sad but true. While everyone else gets to benefit from our labor, taxes, withheld finances, and contributions to our country for the past nearly 400 yrs.
Reading these comments it is clear that the average yt Americans and immigrant is not informed or intelligent enough to have an opinion on the matter of reparations. So why is the media centering their opinions?!

I find in funny. European countries forced the poor people of Haiti to pay reparations to their former master for more than a hundred years, but they don't want to talk about that do they.

Honestly? Yes,they should . Till nowadays Afro-American are suffering discrimination at schools and workplaces. I’m Polish and I had lived in USA for 3 years, and I must say I have never seen such racism in Poland as I did see in USA.

The U.S forced the Haitian to pay the French reparations. The slave owners also got paid after the civil war. America should have pay black people this money decades ago.

Police reforms will be implemented in an expansive act that will at minimum include:
Elimination of Qualified Immunity; requirement of mandatory malpractice insurance for
police officers; make municipalities liable for unconstitutional actions by police; mandatory
use of dashboard and body cams; elimination of chokeholds and “no-knock” warrants;
establishment of residency requirements, de-escalation training, and requirement to update
training; severe penalties for evidence tampering including withholding DNA. A federal
database of police and disciplinary records established and made public and once fired for
cause cannot be rehired. Creation of Office of Independent Prosecutors to solely focus on
prosecuting police accused of wrongdoing. Other reforms as listed in greater detail in the
Contract with Black America.
