Sorry but periscopes, drones, lasers, etc. being controlled by OTS game controllers is not justification for their use as primary maneuvering controls in a human-occupied submersible.
Show me one manned US Navy vessel whose maneuvering or propulsion controls are controlled with a video game controller and then you will have a point. But there aren’t any.
Imagine a billionaire and multiple millionaires not buying or leasing a DSV Limiting Factor machine that can go as deep as ~36k feet to the bottom of the trenches. Instead, they are using logitech game controllers, and poopy Ocean Gate subs to go to Titantic ~13k feet deep. Clearly something is going on. 2019 had manned DSV's to conquer the bottom of all the trenches.
The pressure down there is 5500 lbs per square inch. They were absolutely obliterated in an instant. Death is in the back of your mind. They will only find bits and pieces of the sub down there.

I am grateful that airspace is heavily regulated; otherwise, we would have all these CEOs trying to cut corners and save money at the expense of safety! It's unbelievable that the company's CEO is 60 years old but possesses the wisdom of an insane 12-year-old teenager. I genuinely feel sorry for the 19-year-old young man who followed his father on this ill-fated adventure. Rest in peace.
Here are some important lessons to remember:
1) Listen to experts who have experience in their field.
2) Never cut corners, especially in situations where life and death are involved.
3) Don't think you can outsmart Mother Nature with cheap equipment, like an experimental submarine attempting to go 13,000 feet deep.
