Honestly, with flat and docile pitches at play, runs in ranji will not matter. You have to present difficult conditions for the batters to really test their skills. But the irony here is that the very selection committee for whom it doesnt matter, is under the bcci who is the one that conducts ranji. The Ranji Trophy Format has diluted the performances in the tournament. The best has to face each other and than only the best cricketers will come out on top. Format like 3 divisions, where 1st division has 10 best teams, than next division has next best 10 teams and rest in 3rd division, with promotion and relegation involved. This was the older format, but was very effective as every year there was a great tussle to be the best among the best. Hence, best players were visible through their performances.

Are you crazy do you? do you know the real cricket, do have any sense, you just talk bull shit, how do you compare red ball cricket with T20 league, a bowler can maximum bowl only 4 overs, and lots of field restrictions, wickets are batting paradise, it’s ideally made for batsmen favor, overseas players or bowlers also limited, some time you have one or 2 overseas bowlers only if you can see the stats, whereas 4 day games or 5 day games theirs no restrictions for bowlers or fielders and wickets also very tricky not a easy batting wicket 2:11 , so please don’t compare red ball with white ball cricket and don’t misguide the public because 90% are not played any cricket, so don’t confuse them, if you don’t like Sarfraz no issues, coming time will tell, whenever he get opportunities, so don’t prematurely judge anyone unless and until he really play😅

We need to understand performances in IPL can be misleading with wickets favoring batsmen, fielding restrictions and short boundaries. Even a IPL super star like Surya was found wanting in ODIs.
BCCI must strengthen the domestic circuit, so that the players who score big runs there can be considered complete package before getting their international debuts… For that Zonal cricket should be played throughout the years. My proposal:
October: Vijay Hazare trophy
November-January: Ranji trophy
February: SMAT
March: Rest
April-May: IPL
June – September : Zonal cricket with 5 zones (75 top players selected format wise from VHT, RT and SMAT) playing against each other spending one month(2 tests, 4 One day, 4 T20s per month per side) each in every region of India
I really think the discussion about Ranji quality should be a separate one. Clearly the BCCI is accountable to the players that are working so hard to perform well in the structure that they have been asked to perform in.
